Geez, do you really need bottle feeding till forever?

But one thing you are right, the question is quite simple, actually it's trivial. And you don't know the answer.
Or say you are the first one on this board even try to take a crack at it.

Have fun.

Dave,

<< If VZ, uses WCDMA in the future, then it actually means more money to Q because for the sake of compatibility they will need CDMA2000/WCDMA dual mode chipsets and handsets, which will be more expensive than single mode. So what does that mean? 1) Higher royalty. 2) More natural choice of Q's(spinco) WCDMA/CDMA2000 chips. So I would say go for it. If they can that is. >>

IF VZ uses WCDMA in the future they will need dual-mode because their best in the business nationwide coverage Is based on IS-95A in 800 & 1900 MHz spectrum (with some AMPS thrown in but rapidly being replaced.

IF VZ uses WCDMA in the future they will build out WCDMA slowly with WCDMA deployed initially in the major metros where they have big chunks of bandwidth. Now, what happens with Nextwave spectrum will probably have a major impact on whether or not they deploy WCDMA at all. Currently they do not have clear title to 45 MHz in the top 5 metros, and they have many smaller markets with spectrum only in 1900, or only 800 MHz and in some cases only 10 MHz or so which gets way tight for WCDMA.

I don't think there is much question of them preceding with the planned 1xRTT upgrade nationwide. They will then consequently need multi-mode 1xRTT/WCDMA just as Europe needs GSM(GPRS)/WCDMA for seamless coverage.

Did I just agree in total with the almighty Lakers? I'm slipping. <g>
