Tony, Re: From now on I'm ignoring Magee and his Inquirer as irresponsible rumor mongerers.

Would that change if someone was mailing you an internal Intel roadmap proving that 2 GHz was slated for July before?

Andreas

It'd be really nice if you ignored this thread too, while you were at it, Tony.

Real classy Tony.. Mike took the courtesy of answering your retort with some statements showing why he believes himself to be right.. (I dont see many journalists, IT or otherwse, have the guts to do that in a public forum). and you dont even bother to respond to him.. I expected better from you.

You Intel guys accuse AMD people of seeing or believing what they want to see,, yet a case can be made that you guys do the exact same thing.... why not try coming up with some hard proof or something to answer to Mike, rather then pretending he isnt even on here?

EDIT: Here is his original reply to you in case you "forgot" where it was and show a change of heart in responding to him

Tony, I don't understand your response. The URL's I cited were from Tom's Hardware Guide, not Mike Magee. The first one in November stated that "at least" 1.7 GHz would be released in Q1. The early roadmaps are all very confusing, because it is not clear whether "Northwood" refered to a new core on the 0.13 process, or a new socket on the 0.18 process. Apparently, it refers to the new 0.13 process and the 478 pin 0.18 chip is nameless.

I've read that, electrically, the 478 pin socket just includes more power and ground pins, and that it is smaller. I suspect a 2GHz P4 is impossible on 0.18u without these new pins. I believe it will also contain a liquid that may ameleorate the "hot spot" problem whic is the cause of clock throttling.
