There have always been abortions and there will always be abortions. The question is only whether or not they are safe and legal.

As I said to Solon there have always been a lot of bad things and many of them might continue indefinitely, that doesn't mean you don't try to reduce the number of them or that we should automatically try to make all of these bad things as safe and legal as possible.

Well, there always have been and always will be wars, murders, domestic violence, mothers who throw their babies in trash cans. That doesn't suggest to me that the only question is whether to make these things save and legal.

Of course, if you think abortion is a good thing, then your point is reasonable. But that begs the question.

"The question is only whether or not they are safe and legal."

That's only after you beg the question of the humanity and personhood of those aborted, and ignore the question of the moral rightness of killing another human person. Slavery was once "safe and legal", but it was also wrong.
