<<Duff, did you pick up on the 4,500 installed links? The website still says 3,000 in places, and a May article says 4,000, now we see 4,500. 4,500 is 50% more than 3,000>>

Impressive especially if there really were 4000 as recently as May

<<Also note the words "revenue producing". Does OA get any revenue from the volume of data transferred (e.g is there recurring revenue), or just the initial sale? That wording confused me.>>

Me too. After a short discussion here Message 15922525 about OA's business model here a while back I concluded that:

"1. <<Is Optical Access both an equipment provider and a service provider?>>
Equipment provider
5. <<Do they even sell directly to end use customers or do they sell only to FSO network integrators such as Davnet and Tellaire?>> They sell to companies like Davnet & Tellaire and not directly to the end user"

Now this:

*** Customers include end users and SERVICE PROVIDERS such as AOL, British Telecom, Chase, Marconi, Sony, Siemens, etc

If they are selling directly to end users then they might be getting service revenues after all.

Hope we get clarification on this point at the the Free Space Optical Alliance conference on June 26th. By the way I see that there are now 18 members instead of 13.

So we have to come up with 5 more potential competitors!
