It didn't find anything, and I already have McAfee but had turned it off because I thought my LinkSys router was all I needed. Did some checking around, and decided what I needed to worry about was Trojans (funny, isn't it, I thought people used Trojans for protection - not sure if that's funny in Germany - Trojans are the best-selling brand of condoms). Anyway, set up ZoneAlarm, which is also free, so am now surfing using WebWasher AND ZoneAlarm AND McAfee, but not the LinkSys router at this minute, because the cable is down. The router acts as a hardware firewall. So I am being a good girl and not going to scary places. I'm kind of used to the neo-Nazi and White Power stuff already, I used to work for a company that printed David Duke's newspapers - he was just one very minor customer, our biggest customer was a grocery store - newspaper inserts, and we did a lot of other newspapers and magazines - for universities, tourism, realtors, you name it. The owner thought Duke was squirrely but the dollars don't care where they come from, and yes, he does have a right to free speech. Now with the web, you can read him for free. It is sad that billions of people who have not been taught much history are going to log onto the Internet for the first time and this is what they will find. But the antidote to the poison is on the web, too, if they look for it. Actually, I was looking more at anti-Semitic propaganda on Islamic sites, and wandered by accident onto a site with reprints from Der Sturmer, and that's what slipped me the nazty program, I think.
