The "other" stuff is very perplexing. At the analyst meeting Andy Bryant said that the networking silicon business and wireless silicon business are profitable. I think the networking boxes business may not be profitable but Intel already announced that it is discontinuing making some routers and switches. I would think that all this would suggest that wireless & Intel Communication are at least break even (or close to it). This leaves only the new business group. Could that group really be losing most of this money? This is all very speculative and most likely way off base but without any data it is very difficult to get a handle on this.

It seems that there are quite a few people here who would like Intel to be more forthcoming about these "other" businesses. Is there some way we can lobby for this to happen (and is this a good idea?)?

Obviously we could write IR, Andy Bryant and Craig Barrett but beyond that is there something else that can be done?

Hi John, RE: "Should they have bought just one larger company with their $12 billion investment? "

Maybe not, if they have a low-cost way of achieving the same result over time.
