I pleaded for respect, that's all. We all know what conceit and the feeling, conviction of supremacy, "historic mission" and being the better-born can eventually lead to - starting with Kain and his brother -. Let us never forget that.

Many competent scholars claim that the oldest civilization was not in Mesopotamia, but in the Indus Valley, e.g., ancient cities of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro. The oldest known book is the Rig Veda, maybe 3000 B.C., and the oldest known writing may be Harappan and date to 3500 BC.

That's leaving out the Australian rock engravings dated roughly 40,000-60,000 BC.

I have read that other archologists claim to have found earlier writing in other places, e.g., Greece.
