You mean you didn't know Beltane when it was going on? Whew!

And I thought it was my antics there that made you realize what good marriage material I was. Gosh, you mean you love me for my MIND?? Wow!

Yes, Beltane had a reputation. Well deserved. It got, uh, a bit steamy at times. All in good taste, of course.

Ah, if you didn't know Beltane, then you've missed all the Arteeste in-jokes that have been circulating on and off, mostly between E and me, but others, too.

Well, go read it. And enjoy!

Here's a sample of the flavor of the thread. The best parts were the evenings before Beltane, which was May 1st; get a glass of wine, a quiet place, plenty of time, start about the April 29th posts, and enjoy. If you like these posts, you'll like most of them, I think:

But could youth last, and love still breed,
Had joys no date, nor age no need,
Then these delights my mind might move
To live with thee and be thy Love.

And isn't that the great attraction of e-love? For all the women at Beltane are forever
nubile, forever young, forever beautiful (even if they just got out of bed and haven't had a
shower in three days, they are still beautiful to me), forever lusty (and if they choose not
to be lusty for a bit, they merely go off-line), and forever virginal, returning to virginity
after each tryst. They never nag us to clean the bathroom, or mow the lawn, or get OFF
the computer NOW and come to bed.

Poetry is all very well, Sir-- but what, pray tell, is the meaning of this?

<<it'll be the only way you'll get to enjoy the charms of any of the nubile
maidens I will be busily escorting to the moon-shade of the
beech tree.>>

"Any of the nubile maidens, Sir?"

The plural, Sir? Say it isn't true. It is, perhaps, a typographical error, I must
needs think, my darling Arteeste.

I remain,

Your faithful and devoted Love-Slave,

Lady E

Ah, what can I say? The spirit of Beltane is upon me. I have realized that to
restrict my charms to only one lady is both selfish and definitely NOT in the
spirit of Beltane.

"He loves best who loves most."

But did you not notice that your name came FIRST in the list of ladies? That is
because you are indeed first in my heart.

[sotto voce aside to other ladies: actually, you are all really first in my heart,
which exhausted itself in love for E but has now recovered and is ready for
fresh adventures, but don't let on to E.]

I love thee so much that I must proclaim to all the other ladies on this thread
how much I adore thee. Must proclaim it in private, quiet places, off within the
dappled shade of the beech wood.
