Good for your prof. He obviously recognizes superior ability when he sees it. :)

Fantastic story about your "tutee" (if that's not a word, it should be, although it could also be a person wearing a tutu) I also think children's pictures are important, particularly family and self=portraits.

When we started cleaning Ammo's room last week, some of the pictures we found of men with their heads being blown off, and blood spurting out of hand-less arms and foot-less legs reminded us that the sweetest kids can have strange sides. I do think that that kind of drawing GENERALLY is just an attempt at controlling what frightens them, a safe way to explore the horrors they see around them. He no longer draws these things, but he does write about the dark parts of life in his fiction.

Or maybe Ammo is a very disturbed individual with a great facade.

Wonderful!

There was a book out about 20 years ago--"Dibs in search of Self" which I think you might like, if you have not yet read it. About a teacher and an autistic child. I remember that she was able to slowly experience the child's world, and then vice versa. Gentlenes and patience to the nth degree.

I am so happy to see you beaming! This is a nice place. I hardly slept this morning, so I will drop by later I hope.
