There was also a major congressional guideline made in 95 that said the CIA should not deal directly with terrorists. I heard this guideline is being discussed in congress today and is likely to be modified/rescinded.

We probably won't hear much about it but I suspect the CIA will be playing a much more active role in worldwide terrorist activities in the future.

They already caught some of the accomplices. Found arabic flight training manuals and pictures of bin Laden as well.

Mr. Fant,

It really works better to defeat your enemies before you start loving them. Or, just possibly, to love them while defeating them.

Adm. Hyman Rickover was never head of the CIA - he was the "father" of the nuclear navy.

The CIA Director from 1977-1981 was Adm. Stansfield Turner. The human networks were never "terminated" just emphasized less in favor of more technology in a step that left us more vulnerable to terrorism. CIA case officers still work overseas running agents, they always have. But the agency's long-term Soviet focus left them unprepared to handle Arab terrorism in the 1980's and 1990's.

The assassination issue was ended earlier after the Church Committee report, around 1975 I think. It has been supported by every president since as an executive order, including conservative Ronald Reagan.

You need to do your homework on the details, though your basic points are worth considering.

"Finally we might cut back on immigration quotas from the Middle East and rotate those quotas to Latin American or Asian/African persons..."

You have something against Europeans?

I see your service in Carter's administration did some permanent damage.
