Hi albert kovalyov; Russia (actually the Soviet Union) invaded Afghanistan in the face of the Afghanis being supplied by the U.S. through Pakistan. The U.S. will (hopefully) avoid that kind of situation.

Another difference is that the U.S. won't be trying to install a communist regime. Current political climate in the U.S. would suggest the simple expedient of killing them all and letting God sort them out. But there is no way that the wealthy parts of the world can allow the festering of terrorist attitudes in the 3rd world. I would hope that they clean out Palestine as well as Afghanistan.

From what I'm reading, there is probably not a civilized country on the planet that is not mourning the loss of their own citizens at the WTC.
