"Maybe in the end, after we strip all the labelling B.S. away, it is a war between those who believe that every person on this planet should have some basic rights and freedoms vs. those who do not. "

I think that was what the US always went to war for, regardless of what some malcontents wanted everyone to think.

In response to your bottomline that no one has the right to take away human lives...
In my heart, i totally agree with that and with alot of your thinking. I am so thankful that there are avenues of dialogue and exchange like this site where we can spark our thinking, hone our awarenesses and achieve greater clarity.
What comes to mind and i dread bringing it up, but what do we do with the reality of what our country has done in recent past that has contributed to the terrorism in our world? Somehow we cannot ignore this or we fall into a belief that we are somehow the "more human" species- avery dangerous path to follow. I stumble when i hit this issue and need to hear others' clarity on this issue.

It is similar to taking a personal stance against violence of all kind and then having to look at how one continues some level of violence in one own's daily life choices. Hard questions and i have extreme faith in our ability to come up with some respectful, intelligent responses as our nation faces these decisions. I believe that as we citizens push our boundaries of perception and analysis, in some way the choices made by our leaders are equally affected. Truly, new approaches and solutions are having to be created as we progress through this crisis.
Respectfully, mitzi

"......imposing their ideology by force......"

Teresa, that is where we all agree. The Communists, the religious fundamentalists, the drug lords all fall into that category. Let us go after them and spare thousands of God fearing innocent Muslims. So yes, let us calm down, salute our nation's greatness and stand united behind our President
