I know nothing... just repeating what the guy said, it seemed he thought that collapse [caused by the heat] caused by such a collision [jets FULL of fuel] could have been forseen. Maybe I'm mistaken about that.

Captain, I am not a practicing structural engineer, but I am a Civil Engineer. Much like a doc practicing internal medicine would know something about surgery, I am qualified to comment on your statement.

<<I don't think any one realised that the design
would cause it to collaps in on itself in such
a dramitic way as it did. All the support was in
the outer walls with none in the center.
I would not have thought of that.>>

That is pure BS!

Based on what I know, I can tell you one thing very clear, the structure withstood the impact - just as it was supposed to. The culprit is the heat! Above 1000 deg, steel structures buckle! It can stay in the "form of steel" up to about 1600 degree F. Burning jet fuel raises the temps to over 2000 F. We are talking molten metal!

Imagine 30-40 stories of weight above the impact area on molten steel! As the floors above collapse, the impact sets inevitable chain reaction downward. The banana pealing type action we saw was just that: upper floors sunk in to the lower floors. Only structure I know that are designed by considering all these variables (concurrent high heat, upper deck collapse etc) are NUCLEAR BUNKERS. WTC ain't one. I understand that fire fighters should know something about structures.
