Let's offer these used-camel traders a deal: If they don't kill any more Europeans or Americans, we won't nuke Mecca.

Inquiring minds want to know: Would you care to define the following terms:

1. Used camel trader.

2. Europeans.

3. Americans.

Also, would you like to expand on the idea of "nuking Mecca" ? (by this I am asking you to explain size and power of nuclear weapon and where would the fall out of the explosion is likely to end up... ah yes, and for how long is it likely for the resulting radiation to last in the years to come.)

Thanks.

I am an old man. The Mosques here in Denver and the schools where my children go to school are closed due to bomb threats. These threats are from my neighbors not from foriegn bombers. In many ways my friends are being victimized and terrorized from near and from far.

I will, if asked, go to the ends of the Earth to fight and destroy these terrorists where ever they might hide. There are 1 billion Muslims in the world and these terrorists represent less than a fraction of 1 percent and they are my enemies.

They are in some cases evil and corrupt mercenaries and in other cases horribly misguided extremists.

What you are suggesting (nuke Mecca) is far worse than anything they have done. Get a grip man.

we won't nuke Mecca.

It might make a good threat, but if we ever did it, I'd be in the market for a new country. I spent too much time on this thread bemoaning the destruction of statues by the Taliban. I don't want any part of the destruction of anyone's precious history. I'd rather kill innocent people.

Besides that, it would be singularly short-sighted. We'd have millions of terrorists in the next generation.

Laz, in addition to the religious and cultural significance of Mecca almost a million people live there and many more visit/go on a pilgrimage to it. Your talking about a loss of life of atleast 50 times more then the world trade center attack probably close to 200 times.

Some terrorists groups might not believe us. Some small extremly radical group might think that we will do it but then that it will get all of Islam behind them so they might go ahead and make the attacks.

I don't advocate using nukes at all. About the only scenario that might make sense to use them would be if we can find out who did it and we know he is somewhere in a camp or compund that is well away from a population center but we don't know where in the camp and need a small tac nuke to take it all out. Even then I would be reluctant to use nukes but it might make sense. Nuking a city in response to a terrorist attack would make us as evil as them.
