Ali,

<<Islamic or communistic, all are doomed due
to the basic law of nature - their societies are
less efficient and not sustainable in the presence
of faster developing society. It is simply like a
faster growing amoeba eventually eats all the
space in a Petri dish (read - Earth). And there is
nothing anyone can do about this. We just need to
live over that last outburst of dying civilization>>

Funny how different people can see such different 'realities' and draw such different conclusions from the same set of facts. If I agree with your premise that those who perpetrated this outrage are members of a "dying civilization", what should we do? Help kill them faster as Bilow implies? 'Dying' people do deseperate, crazy things. We're all in the same 'petri dish' as you suggest, for better or worse. Your implied idea that we simply 'outwait' (and 'outlive') them implies that the effects of intereactions between us in the meantime won't have significant, or long-term effects. I would disagree.

Regards,

Jamok

Period. Islamic or communistic, all are doomed due
to the basic law of nature - their societies are
less efficient and not sustainable in the presence
of faster developing society.

well, communism in Russia did collapse after relatively short period of time. Islam on another hand is just as strong as it was a 1000 years ago.

It is a matter of fact that their progress (technical and social) is next to non-existent
while we are far more advanced by our standards at this point let me remind you that few hundred years ago the picture was very different. Western society was very primitive with virtually no development. Modern medicine started to emerge from the Islamic countries.

Few hundred years from now?

ps a bit of history: few decades back when cybernetics was born the leading country in the research and with most progress was USSR. At that time one of the leading idiots made a statement that cybernetics is not a science but rather a tool that would be ultimately used by capitalists to enslave the working masses. All research in cybernetics became equivalent to a treason.
The question is would US manage to gain the lead over Russians if that single idiot at power would not halted all research for about 25 years?

Ali: western "social engineering"

Actually, I was indirectly referring to Carls post and his somewhat technocratic fantasies:
Message 16351123
Iraq should be relatively easy to convert into a more or less
(for the Middle East anyway) liberal democracy.

Seems export to me.

It is a matter of fact that their progress
(technical and social) is next to non-existent.

Sometimes, I feel social progress - in sharp contrast to technical progress- of western countries is also next to non-existent. Maybe declining. In my youth, we never locked up house or bicycle, even living close to the city. Today, this is gone. More cops? But we hadn't almost any back then. Is it better in the US? Is there progress?
