Gore is a consensus man and cannot make the tough decisions on his own.

Perhaps the most telling event during this crisis was Bush's immediate decision that, if necessary, the fourth straying airliner would be shot down. It is difficult to imagine a more difficult decision a president would ever have to make. Yet, Bush made it, within minutes, and made the correct decision. The media has not made enough of this important point.

It is without question that Clinton and Gore would have been unable to reach such a decision in the required time frame, if for no other reason because there was insufficient time to take a poll.

The disclosure that Bush made this critical decision on the recommendation of his staff speaks volumes about the competence of both Bush and his staff.

Re: You didn't answer my question about Gore making decisions that involve having to kill someone?

There is nothing particularly heroic about letting someone else kill some convict strapped to a chair in a prison.

What is a hard decision, and a courageous decision, is to decide to let yourself be sent to Vietnam when you know that your Senator/Father could have pulled strings and gotten you safe stateside duty.

Gore stood up for his country and went to war - when he could have weaseled himself out of it, as so many others did. For God's sake, give the guy some credit, if for nothing else then for the sake of those others who may be doing the same thing as we sit here in our cozy homes.

Bush has what it takes to deal with the real world. Gore doesn't. Gore is a consensus man and cannot make the tough decisions on his own.

Milo, all everyone talks about is how Bush at least has some good senior people telling him what to do. Maybe "telling him" is a little strong but don't you think there must be some consensus making in his meetings? Bush Sr. maybe was the tough guy you talk about.....but I don't see Bush Jr. the same way.
