FL - you are the Thread Head, so you call the shots, but I have a modest suggestion to make.

My proposal:

Everyone whose mind is already made up is not allowed to talk about Israel-Palestine anymore.

That means that everyone who takes the position that Israel has no right to exist, ok, you've had your say, now zip it.

Everyone who takes the position that Israel is completely without blame and it's all the Palestinians' fault, again, you've had your say, now cool it.

Carolyn already put the topic off-limits on the War thread, so the people who can't go a day without expressing the above emotions seem to be coming over here.

Personally, I'd love to see everyone who calls all Israelis and/or all Palestinians "terrorists" put into "time out" for a couple of days, and let the grown-ups keep talking.

It worked with my kids . . . .

Speaking for myself, FaultLine, I know I would like to have a nuanced discussion about, say, Sharon's current policy vis-a-vis Perez's attempts to continue negotiations. However, the presence of people who just say "Israel is Germany of 1938" makes any nuanced discussion or criticism of Israel difficult for those of us who support Israel's continued existence. Any suggestions?

FL,

Thank you for attempting to hold this thread's content to your original intentions. Although the Israeli Palestinian conflict is worthy of discussion, on this thread it has been divisive and way OT, IMO.

Let me join others to thank you, FL, for trying to bring the focus of the thread back.

John

No problem. Can you please make a one-post exception for Cobalt to dig up the link on people refusing Israel's right to exist?
