Can you believe we have a Senator who is trying to block the new Anti-Terrorism Bill...?

dailynews.yahoo.com

We needed the bill passed weeks ago and now we have this joker from Wisconsin trying to water down the bill...After all, isn't Congress trying to provide the FBI with the tools they really need to aggressively prevent another major terrorist attack within our borders...? Sometimes we have to give up a few civil liberties in exchange for security...I'll bet if Mr. Feingold lost a son or daughter in the WTC he might have a totally different view on what's appropriate. It's time for Congress to act in a decisive way and give the FBI the long overdue capabilities that are needed to provide effective surveillance and counter-terrorism services....JMHO.

Regards,

Scott

Ed,

I believe the primary goal of the entry requirements for special forces is to find those rare individuals with "mental toughness'. Man is not at the top of the land animal food chain by chance. Anyone can kill if properly motivated, and some people are 'naturals' in certain situations. The physical tests are not designed to see who is physically the strongest. All during the training they try to get you to quit, to weed out those who don't have what it takes to win mentally. The ones who are left can be trained to do just about anything any human can do because they know they can do it. THAT'S what makes them special forces. The resulting physical prowess is a useful byproduct.

My personal belief is that most of life is a mind game. I just did my first whitewater kayaking trip ever the other day, on a river the locals consider suitable only for intermediate to advanced kayakers. Physically it was no big deal, although I am pretty bruised up right now, and almost ended up swimming in a class 6 rapids (Death a probable outcome) :o) It was a mind game more than anything but I must admit I didn't sleep well that night due to all the excess adrenaline.

Today I will be rapelling down a cliff face for the first time...assuming I can hold the ropes with recent bruises to my hands.
