I don't object to Indian engineers and scientists coming to America in the least. Or living next door. BUT, is this not a kind of theft by the west of the human resources most needed by the "home" countries? I would think the loss of these capable people would be greater than any gold or spice that may have been grabbed in the 18th and 19th centuries. The greatest immigration pressures are coming from south of the border and not many of the immigrants are engineers and scientists. They frequently compete with the least capable whites and blacks and conflict is inevitable. Because of the many service industry jobs in this area we have a heavy influx. These people are hard-working and well respected. My wife has become a sort of Godmother to numerous families. IMO, the country will be fine if we stick with the melting pot model and avoid the mosaic model. Assimilation works better than co-existence. The trend away from bi-lingual education is essential, IMO. M
