Ken, please. I love your thread but I find those comments very insensitive. None of the employees of the t.v. stations, or the parents of the child who just got anthrax, or the family of the two members of American Media, one who died and one who was hospitalized, are laughing or have the attitude that a card with "bang" would be scarier. And sorry there is no comparison to people who've smoked all their lives. None. Nobody would compare terrorism to bad eating habits or smoking or any lifestyle decision that could eventually contribute to one's death.

And though you may think it comical, clearly many are terrorized--why else divert a plane where two rabbis are praying. Right now the Lexington Avenue line is closed down from Grand Central--I'm sure its related. Two nights ago a helicopter was circling the upper west side with searchlights for an hour, which was never explained. Yesterday state troopers were in our neighborhood diner.

It is not at all laughable. A baby getting anthrax is NOT laughable or comical.

As for noise level, I believe just the opposite of what you say. It's on the news constantly and its all anyone is thinking about. It is an incredibly effective threat simply in terms of the fear it has generated and the way it is hobbling the already not so great FBI. You may say that is irrational fear, but I think not. I think at some point sooner or later you will be seeing it differently.

It just hasn't come to your neighborhood yet so there is some way in which you seem to be shrugging it off.
