If the drinking water, food, & drug reserves, the generation of electricity, rail & road transport require new security these too will require on-going paychecks. The greatest portion of the technology will be a near "one-time" cost (excepting repair & maintenance) but all them additional labor will be an on-going additional cost. prophylactic drugging & or giving vaccine for the bio-terrorism will also prove to be an ongoing effort and cost. There may be an addition an cost to our overall health as we become more quickly resistant to antibiotics through over drugging. If there will be tracking & tracing of every bit of mail in the US these activities will require monumental input of technology and additional labor! This new letter level tracking, on the other hand, may yield some beneficial spin-off attributes in overall productivity not yet foreseen. All other costs will be ongoing wastes of our productivity and we will, here, again have proven(to only those that read our words) Greenspan is a full of shit idiot or liar. How stupid does he believe our elected officials & those who elected them - US? This is exactly the sort of thing I feared about Y2k - remember, I'm the one who said I didn't fear the failure of systems as much as any advantage taken by the bad guys!
