How can you say such a thing!! Really! If we had designs on Afghanistan (choke) of the Unocal kind, it would have been self-evident from long ago. Why can't people believe that September 11 was stunning, unexpected, unwarranted, unacceptable, evil?

Look, Raymond, I'm sorry the 9.11 terrorist attack spoiled your anti-globalization rally in D.C. (But I'm not, really). We didn't have any say in the matter, and it's clear you're so pee'd off you have to spread it wherever you can. In direct response to the only thing in your post I care to respond to, ("800 military installations. Does that seem a bit excessive to you for a nation that is at peace and hasn't had an enemy worth a dang for the last 10 years?" ) my answer is an unequivocal, "No." It's clear we should have established a number of bases in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why do you think we haven't "had an enemy worth a dang for the last 10 years?" Huh? Because we have process servers more willing than you to risk a one-way trip to serve legal papers on those who would attack us? Don't know how old you are or what your career path has been, but most, if not the vast majority of people don't really mind the fact that some big, successful companies provide jobs, products, and services all over the world so their customers and employees can improve our lives, as has been exhibited over the past hundreds of years. And when they provide jobs, products, and services that people want, they get bigger and more successful. And their customers and employees prosper, too. It's called commerce, and it works. And little companies that do the right things can get big, too. Sometimes it's only those who don't have anything to contribute get left out and are the ones who complain. But even then, the United States and international community are very generous and help out.
