as far as I know, its bin not ibn.

bin = son of.
bint = daughter of

Thus Usama Bin Ladin, means Usama the son of the Ladins. These guys normally have long real names.

Normally, if the lineade and pedigree is good, his full name would be Isama bin ladin bin blah bin blah bin blah The rest of the bins just land up in the dustbins for normal everyday usage.

ibn is a legitimate arabic/urdu/persian word.....i forget what it means though...maybe i'll look up and get back on that in a little while.
