Jochen,
i for one am glad to see German involvement. they are top notch troops.

every unit in the German armed forces has trained with American units. they get along very well.

i had 3 opportunities to work with them:
trained with GSG 9 in the Bertchesgaden area.
trained and jumped with the German 100th long range recon company at Weingarten. still have my German wings and certificate from them.
worked with the German Kriminalpolizei in Berlin.

if you know or find out, i would be curious which unit the 100 German Special Forces are.

Jochen... I hope you read my second post on the issue of German participation..

"And I'm not blaming the German military who, I believe, are chomping at the bit to get involved and deploy troops to region. I'm blaming the silent majority in these countries for not quashing the vocal dissidents who are unwilling to stand by their NATO committment."

I, like Unclewest, have great admiration for the German military (especially those folks on the German destroyer, the Lutjens, who flew the US flag when passing the USS Churchill).

It's just that tolerance that some Germans have for permitting their vocal minority have an overly powerful impact on their nation's policies. Very similar to the US silent majority during the '60's.
