I've heard of other engine failures in flight, it actually is not that unusual (relatively speaking). In every case I've heard about, though, the damage was contained to the engine, and the plane was able to make an emergency landing. And the pilot was able to radio an emergency message. No message here, parts all over the place, it seems like a catastrophic failure. Of course, the plane was just taking off, so low altitude could explain some of the facts, but not the lack of an emergency transmission. I wonder if we will get the true story from the black box?
