Hmm, low yields and excessive leakage on Intel's 130nm process?

theinquirer.net

"Not everything is well at the Intel fabs, we have learned from an insider. The copper interconnect technology, which appears in the .13 micron Tualatins and in the up-and-coming Northwood and Prestonia parts, is causing yields to be less than the company had hoped, while there is also excessive leakage on the same process."

John,

<This is a good thing for pricing. >

Please explain how this is good for pricing.

As I posted to you earlier, they can slap a $1000 price tag but they won't have anything to sell. What they have, their customers do not want. To sell what customers do not want, they must REDUCE prices. What customers want, Intel can supply, meaning this is good for Intel's market share.

news.cnet.com

"Rob Herb, executive vice president of sales at AMD, confirmed the company sold out of two Athlon speed grades."

Sold out means NO product.
NO product means NO revenue.
NO revenue means NO profit.

How is this good?

SK

Dell's unit shipments down 19%. Not good for Intel.
