Gentlemen, I would argue that reason has become another casualty of the modern financial system.

Some "new-era" myths have already been debunked. Whether the ongoing credit and consumption extravaganza can stand the test of time remains to be seen. If this program doesn't quite work out............

KB, you seem to be quite the student of history. How do you compare the centuries-old history of gold as a store of wealth versus the history of governments resisting the urge to abuse the fiat system? I do hope it will be different this time, but the our present path seems somewhat familiar.

I'm not going to pound the table in favor of gold, but how much faith does this modern financial system deserve - one that has destroyed the wealth of so many around the World and benefited the consumers of the West?? Sorry, my eyes don't see the foundation of lasting stability but there certainly is room for reasonable minds to disagree.

But then again, I've still got my wooden skis <G>.
