"Occam's BLC uses a cost-effective Ethernet network rather than requiring the expensive ATM infrastructure you often find with DSLAMs. In addition, we like the fact that Occam is standards-based. That will ease our transition to softswitch platforms, which is clearly our future." Armstrong has also recently begun testing the BLC's voice capabilities under the control of a Class 5 softswitch.
