a minor correction, I don't believe MKULTRA was in operation until the 50s As far as a trial being a propaganda platform, openness is preferrable, imo. If the "evil doers" announce themselves in protest, so much the better. In any event a guilty verdict will send a salutory message, and blunt criticism, if it is a fair trial.
