I.J.:

I've said this before in the thread.

I suffer big-time from the common cold.

I was (am??) a diver. I always had trouble clearing relative to my buddies. I had to proceed very slowly. I went to an ENT guy at UCLA to seek an explanation. He came back with some X-rays, saying that I had sinuses so large that there wasn't room for brains.

The common cold was the ONLY reason that I ever missed work, and was responsible for about a week or two of sub-par productivity per year while I was there (one week/year until my kids hit pre-school).

I therefore **sort of** understand your view. OTOH, I'm of the opinion that our society is nuts, that productivity is over-rated. I'm one of those that believe that competition and a focus on issues such as productivity are contributing factors to 9/11. Where are we going to live when all this efficiency leaves us with no open space and no resources?

Earth, consumed by capitalism...... residence of a species that once behaved like humans.
