combjelly:

He's probably equating this deal with the KMart Blue Light Special Celery package that Paul used to tout on INTCy's behalf...Probably thinks because INTCy got into that firesale pricing debacle with KMart, that AMD has the same kind of firesale deal with Walmart...

Combjelly, “AMD lost money last quarter on an ASP of $61 because flash was doing so badly. It might be doing better this quarter”

Well in a couple of weeks AMD will have to come clean with the quarterly figures.

I guess you AMD holders have your fingers crossed that Jerry doesn’t spring any last minute surprises again. Hey, Just like today I remember how jubilant you guys were June 30 last year.

BTW, what is a combjelly?

Herb

Assuming that AMD gets 100 good die per wafer (it's likely more, but what they hey), that means their costs are around $20 per good die. Packaging and testing would add another $10-15. So to lose money, they would have to sell at or below that price. AMD lost money last quarter on an ASP of $61 because flash was doing so badly. It might be doing better this quarter, but...

No go back and run the numbers with 50 or 75 GDPW. I think you're just shifting the loss to flash to keep the processor yields from looking disasterous.
