RE: Enron employees
Les, Normally employees are very loyal. I'm sure nobody really wanted to sell. They were all sure the stock would recover. Only after it went to single digits they started complaining.
As far as I know most high tech employees did NOT cash most of their options. I know a guy who had $32,000,000 in vested BRCM shares (when BRCM was over $200). He STILL hasn't sold anything. He is too loyal (and stupid and greedy).

People also get blinded by the company propaganda. Badmouthing your company is bad for your career, so most people only hear positive things. Also, most people are in very small niches within the company so they never see the whole market / financial picture.

Something strange, in those Ford plants, all of those poeple are busy all day long on the line, they aren't just sitting there waiting for another car to go through (at least I dont think). Must be strange to be busy at peak productivity then have your boss call you in and lay you off. Things may look like they are going well but turn out not to be.
