This isn't the first time Andersen has been involved with havey-cavey stuff, is it? Even if such practices are widespread, maybe this will serve notice for accounting firms to tighten up.

I don't see Enron as a political issue anyways.....

It is a short term political problem, though, for both parties.

I think there'll be jail time for ENE execs, eventually.

I agree. I haven't seen any smoking gun to either political affiliation. You can make the argument that it was in Texas so GWB must be a bad boy, or that it happened during Clinton's administration so he must be the bad boy, or that anyone who received a campaign contribution must be bad. But I haven't seen anything that suggests that any politician did anything wrong. But there seems to be a lot of indication that the ENE execs weren't altogether looking out for the best interests of their shareholders and employees. If a politician had any wrongdoing, hang him by his or her nads. But taking a donation from a company that eventually is found out to be dirty is not a smoking gun in my book.

I think it was the better of 2 evils for Anderson. What would get them in more hot water? Shreading the documents or having what was on them revealed?
