How can we appear to have given in to ObL when we basically bombed him out of Afghanistan?

In a rational world we can't. In the Arab world, which is in an orgy of denial, we can, very easily. According to the Saudi press, 9/11 was obviously the work of the Mossad, and the fact that we not only deny this but have the gall to accuse Saudi Arabia of a part in it only goes to show the Zionist conspiracy that controls our government and press.

It would be farcical if it weren't so tragic.

If we pull our military out of SA it most certainly will be seen as a victory by the Islamists, though the rest of the world will probably greet it with a yawn.

And where is OBL and his core elite? They now appear to have been exfiltrated via Iran, leaving largely cannon fodder behind.

Some of this neo isolationist talk reminds of the old medical chestnut "Maybe it'll just go away..." Hey, worked like a charm in Afghanistan, NOT.
