I looked at some of my bulbs and discovered that the LED bulb you mentioned is about the same lumens as a 40 watt heavy duty bulb. I also looked at a small florescent bulb. Here are the comparisons. Incandescent 5.1 lumens/watt $1 2,000 hour life Florescent 61 lumens/watt $10 10,000 hours LED 171 lumens/watt $95 100,000 hours If you assume $.05/KWH, then the cost for 100,000 hours is $250, $190 and $98.50 respectively. So it is a great deal for locations with high labor costs to replace the bulbs. For the mass market where we consider the cost to change bulbs to be free, the cost will have to come way down before we will buy a light bulb that is going to last longer than our mortgage. But when it gets to $20 for a 1750 lumen bulb (100 watt) they will own the market. Best to all, JRH
