I am not sure about the 'order numbers'. They said next quarter order are expected to be up 10-15 percent but then said sales would be flat and the sector as a whole will see a decline of 25%. The analysts seemed to take the 10-15% number and leave it at that. During the cc one of the AMAT people talked about how orders are placed as a way for buyers to assure a spot in line for delivery if they need the stuff, but the language they used seemed to refer to a pretty easy process to cancel the orders if they don't want to actually take delivery.

The other major issue is simply valuation -- on a price to sales basis this is about as expensive as this stock has ever been as far as I can tell.

The after hours price improved all the way through the CC -- although it started off down sharply.
