What is the application or service in a mobile that would need more speed than the 9.6 kbs that was available for us since Joan Collins was a virgin?

When I link my phone to my laptop in the airport I would very much like to get speed even greater than my 14.4 kbps which is already 50% faster than your GSM phone at 9.6.

Raj:

...as I have very very patiently tried to explain to you dimwits many times before, speed is not the issue. What is the application or service in a mobile that would need more speed than the 9.6 kbs that was available for us since Joan Collins was a virgin?

You're asking that question of the wrong bunch of dimwits. We aren't the dimwits who paid $100 billion plus for licenses to deploy (a hoped for) high speed 2.4 Mbps Qualcomm flavoured W-CDMA, (or neutrally flavoured UMTS, or Euro flavoured "3GSM", whichever you prefer), plus another $100 billion plus to deploy the network infrastructure to actually use those licenses. Ask them, maybe they have an answer for you.

Well???

Still waiting for your enlightening answer from the Euro carries who coughed up all those Euros for licenses and are in the process of coughing up an equal or greater amount of Euros for the networks to utilize them.

And all to deliver services and applications that you repeatedly say will never exist at data rates that you repeatedly say are unnecessary.

Maybe you should take a gander at this report, put out by some of your guys over there:
