Something like "It is not my intention as Prime Minister to preside over the dissolution of Her Majesty's Empire." Oh, as someone else pointed out, you forgot Northern Ireland. The IRA didn't, though. without my descending into repetitious-stalker mode, would you care to try answering the more substantive point in my post? You had some? The only point I saw was at the top of your demolib pinhead. Ah, this reminds me of The Good Old Days! Back on the original BR. thames_sider and I slugging it out. Now, while slamming each other and throwing everything including the kitchen sink at each other is fun, let's get serious for a moment. Britain and the US are very close allies. Along with some of your other former colonies, such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, the closest we've got. Basically, the US ended up a democracy because Britain was (somewhat partially) one at the time we were British colonies. When push to come shove, you guys stand with us. A fact that we appreciate. And a loyalty that cannot be bought. So next time somebody wants to throw you off your rock, ring us up.

"You guys subjugated half the planet ..." And this wonderful old saw. We thought it was right, our 'manifest destiny' if you will <g> We've stopped. We now recognise it wasn't a right and proper thing. You berated us for so doing, and still do. So... WTF do you do it? Did I miss something that happened while I was at work today? Last I saw the US did not subjugate half the planet. I have no desire to bash the British for having a big empire in the past, that was what powerful countries did back then and there was good that resulted from it as well as harm, but who is the US now subjugating?
