Note the yields are very good so far which seems to totally contradict what Elmer and Yousef are trying to say.

Open your eyes and look at what's happening. They say the yields are good but do you see any .13u material?

overall production cannot begin to meet the demand the channel will place on the new Athlon XP processors.

Oh sure! They couldn't sell more than half the fab30 theoretical output in Q4 and now in the slowest 2 quarters of the year suddenly they can't begin to meet demand!!!

What a line of BS. Don't be a sucker.

While the yields are very good so far, overall production cannot begin to meet the demand the channel will place on the new Athlon XP processors. AMD will introduce the Thoroughbred in a step by step process until AMD feels that it is at a place to adequately fill the channel with desktop T-breds.

What a pile of crap. If it is just that demand is too strong then AMD should intro them at a high price and improve their ASPs from the early adoptions while ramping production as quickly as possible.

I hate to admit it but it looks to me like only technical problems can explain this foot-dragging re Thoroughbred introduction, whether that be yield problems or some kind of instability at higher speeds.
