Re : chance that Leap performs well enough to be able to open up a bank credit line -- speaking strictly "off the top of my head" (and having never used a spread sheet in my entire life) ...

A viable business should attract lenders.

End of analysis.

Jon.

Hmmm....I was hoping that they might be able to resume buildouts sooner than June '03. I guess the best-case scenario we can hope for is that Leap performs well enough to be able to open up a bank credit line. I have no idea how likely that would be....anybody care to comment?

slacker:

I think if the business model is on track, and maybe ahead of schedule after the next couple of quarters, LEAP will be acquired by a major player with deep pockets. I think this scenario was a major component in pcstels interest in LEAP. It looks like Harvey's managed to hit the "sweet spot" with his approach to wireless, and someone with the cash to grow it will step up and acquire what may well prove to be a cash machine.

I do wonder about that Nextwave situation. What happens when that is resolved, particularly if Supremes side with FCC. LEAP certainly hasn't the resources to exploit that bandwidth - nor even to pay for the spectrum they've won.

Well, I sure got a quick answer to my question about how much cash might be
needed to meet the January 2004 hurdle.

As to a bank credit line, without knowing the precise terms of the vendor financing,
I would guess it is highly probable that their debt position prevents additional
debt going in senior to them.

It will not, IMHO, dampen the prospects for LWIN shareholders to saw wood for
a couple of years while moving into a cash generating and profit reporting mode.

Reading the Amendments to the Credit Facilities reads like a reorg! You would think they had asked for the repayment schedule to be floated a couple of years!
