Reading Z's posts with phrases like "We are the best country in the world, bare none" or "Let's invade Saudi Arabia" (and take over the world?) reminds me of the darkest chapter of our history. This sort of thinking allowed the Nazi's to seize power in Germany and encouraged them in their "world domination" plans.

I'd say its acting like the old 18th and 19th century imperial powers not like the Nazis. The Nazis had death camps and also invaded large advanced countries. Of course comparing Z's ideas to those of the old European empires is not exactly a ringing endorsement of them, I just think comparisons to the Nazis should be saved for people or ideas that are actually like those of Nazi Germany.

Andreas, <Just replace Germans with Americans and Jews with Arabs and you don't see a whole lot of a difference in both "ideologies".>

Good one. Jews were responsible for numerous acts of terrorism against the Germans. That's why the Nazis did what they had to do.

I really hope that people thinking like you are a minority in the U.S.

Andreas
I think you are a bit confused here. If you recall Treaty of Versailles prevented Germany from arming itself. When Hitler broke the treaty we did not see any military response from any western countries. Right opposite, king of England showed open adnaration of Hitler.
Israel had a treaty with arafat by which arafat would try to control radical on his territory. He broke the treaty and started to bring arms from Iran.
Iraq had a treaty with west as well and Sadam broke the treaty and is,optimisticly speaking , less than 2 years away from nuclear arsenal. Egypt's peace was build as an agreement between US and USSR and it seems to be breaking that treaty.
Kuwait is joining against west, here is no surprise.
Arabs are uniting behind terrorists and arafat (Hitlers unification of Germany?)
Shall I go on?
Tell me which side reminds you of Hitler now?

Regards
-Albert
ps maybe how Iraq, Saudi's and afganistan treats its own would give a clue

Ted, Re: Okay, Z, but now tell us how that action is any different then say a Hitler over running Poland for an example.

It isn't. Reading Z's posts with phrases like "We are the best country in the world, bare none" or "Let's invade Saudi Arabia" (and take over the world?) reminds me of the darkest chapter of our history. It's really sad (and somewhat frightening) to read something like this on this thread. I really hope that people thinking like Z are a minority in the US.

Andreas, fear and nationalism can be a potent fuel that can lead to all kinds of unpleasant actions.

Yesterday, I noted on this thread that I was stripped searched leaving LA. However, there were some details I omitted. After clearing security for boarding, I realized I had forgotten my WSJ on my seat and turned around and went back to get it. When I got back to the gateway, they told me to move to the side where a number of people were standing and to drop my bags. There were roughly 12-14 people, of which only three of us....myself and an elderly couple, did not speak with an accent. When I realized that, I had a sick feeling that only got sicker when the woman who had assigned me to the group kept apologizing over and over again for searching my carry on. However, no one apologized to the accented passengers.

And I grew even more sick when I realized how grateful I was that the dark skinned guy who could have been Hindu or Muslim......and who I was convinced looked very dangerous and angry........was stripped searched thoroughly. Even so, I watched him closely on the plane....prepared to jump if he made a false move.

Like I said, fear and nationalism and fear and fear are a potent mix.

Oh poppycock! Saudi Arabia is a terrorist country. The Jews and Polish weren't doing anything to Germany. There's a big difference.

To quote Bill Maher from this morning's show, "You see, Israel is our girlfriend, and Saudi Arabia is our dealer. And our dealer is bitch slapping our girlfriend."
