Jenin and other towns in the West Bank should be dealt the same way the US forces are dealing in Afghanistan ---- carpet bombing

I think that's insane...

How about this scenario?

Carpet bombing of the West Bank leads to attacks on Jews worldwide which starts a massive emigration to Israel leading to the collapse of the infrastructure. Highly unlikely but...

I was surprised to find that there are only 13 million Jews worldwide. I thought the Jewish community was much larger. Also that there are almost 6 million Jews in the U.S. while only 5 million in Israel. Learn something new everyday.

Hi, Haim,

It would be a tragic mistake and a moral lapse to carpet bomb the West Bank. There would be too many innocent victims. World opinion would turn against Israel.

The US bombing in Afghanistan did not include targeted carpet bombing of villages and civilians.

Hi Haim R. Brainsteanu; Bombing "suspicious" buildings is not a choice for Israel. All buildings are suspicious, and bombing them does not reduce their ability to be used for ambushes and sniping.

To bomb buildings sufficiently to obviate the need for ground troops would require nuclear weapons. The US was able to avoid this kind of stuff by using allies on the ground in Afghanistan. Israel, since they are attempting to control a population that is dead set against them, do not have an ally on the ground to take the heat for them.

This is not a solvable problem for Israel.
