<<If Israel just pulls out, then suicide bombing has been completely validated as a technique,>>

Goodness sakes...it is a technique....conversely Israel cannot occupy foreign soil....like I said Israel must be the first to blink and take the higher road....The Arabs will not...

<<If Israel just pulls out, then suicide bombing has been completely validated as a technique, and the bombing of Israel will continue. The terrorists draw strength from every perception of Israeli weakness. >>

That's the hard-line view that Sharon and his henchmen constantly communicate....Yet, I would claim that just the opposite is true....If Israel doesn't pull out soon you will see an acceleration of violence and bombings.....THERE IS NO MILITARY SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.....The Palestinians need hope and they need to see a pathway to peace.....Its the desperation and illegal occupation that has motivated some of them to strike back at Israel.

I think this quote which slipped through is interesting:

In a dark corner of the room, leaning against the cinder-block wall and silently watching the children play, sat a surviving fighter of the Palestinian resistance, in hiding.

His face was a web of black burns. Blisters the size of quarters dotted his blackened left hand. His left leg was scorched. He had watched three comrades die in the grenade attack that wounded him, he said. "We didn't expect them to use such military force," he said, though insisting he had no regrets.

In other words, they thought they could have just gone on murdering Israeli civilians with impunity.

Can you say "terrorist-clowns" ?

It's revolting that things had to descend to this level, but the moral relativism about some of this stuff (as if some things are "OK" whenever it suits someone's agenda...) is pretty revolting too.

The Israeli's have squeezed the nickel pretty hard with those stupid colonies, but the Palestinians would have been a lot further on to improving their lives if Arafat had accepted an agreement and worked to improve things diplomatically. BFD if Sharon walked on the stupid esplanade wearing his cheap sunglasses. That justified all this carnage ? Now an enormous amount of useless work is going to have to be done just to undo the wreckage caused by Perfectly Stupid Pride.

Some bombing may well continue, but it won't be considered in any light-hearted "Our mood is good" from the Hamas leaders from now on. Of that, I'm certain.
