If you go back and re-read it, I think that part was debunked. The debunked parts have a colored background, the debunking has a white background.

Middle Eastern oil:

Hey, I got rid of the problem. I sold my car before I moved to Waikiki, and I take the bus.

I wonder if boycotting ME oil is counterproductive. It seems to me that is backing Saddam's oil play. As consumers, we want cheap oil, and many producers. Didn't Reagan pretty much devastate the Texas/Oklahoma oil boom in the early eighties because he allowed the ME oil to be 'dumped' in the market? Cheap oil was part of the rising tide that lifted all of our collective boats. From a strategic point of view, I would just as soon leave our oil (including ANWAR) for the future, and suck the ME dry. Let them compete with the Russians for who sells it the cheapest. The 'oil weapon' Bandar and co threaten to use is pointed back at THEM. The haughty Saudis are totally dependent on one commodity, unless you consider the pilgrimages to Mecca a 'tourist economy'. As long as we keep opening up more international reserves, and the OPEC cartel is not able to control them, oil should stay relatively cheap. More producers, not boycotting is our best strategy. What would your grandkids say to their grandkids if we used our reserves up and left others alone?
