Dan3,

Re: " ... it must be that the market has decided that a 2ghz P4 or Athlon 2000+ is
as much speed as it makes sense to spend money on."

Here we go again ... When AMD is behind in performance, the AMDroids
insist that additional performance is not needed. I guess this is your
way of agreeing that INTC has the performance lead ??!! <ggg>

Make It So,
Yousef

"Intel has clearly taken a very comfortable performance lead over arch rival AMD, with this latest release of the Pentium 4 processor. In the tests you've seen here, we've taken the highest speed Athlon and paired it with the best system board, chipset and memory money can buy and then compared the results to the Pentium 4B across multiple platforms. The moral of the story is that Intel has a definitive edge with respect to overall system performance, at this juncture. "

"Conclusion

With the launch of Intel’s Netburst 533 architecture, the performance gap between the Pentium 4 and Athlon XP is further increasing. As we saw even with the Athlon XP2100+ at 166 MHz FSB, the Athlon XP can no longer hide behind its Model number system because Intel is back in the game. It began with the Northwood (400), which slowly narrowed the performance gap between AMD, now with the Netburst 533 processors; AMD should be very worried as more users will flock to Intel. "
