heatsinker2, CYH = Cover your head, hmm, what does CYA mean? The other end?

Well, if a part will take a heat soak of 85C and it makes it's way into a car where it get to 125C...hmmm, will it work? or fail.
Engineers will select the higher temp part, all other things being equal.
In some apps the higher temp part is de rigeur.
AMD will have those areas to itself, will the price be higher?

Bill

"Overall, it looks like the capabilities of the two products are fairly similar, so we end up with price as being a key factor. "

Yeah. MirrorBit is aimed at the lowest cost per bit market. AMD's other flash is for the market where more performance is needed.

With STM and Intel uses multi-level charge memory, and AMD using their MirrorBit, it will be interesting to see how the market shakes out.

AFAIK AMD's current price is 25% cheaper, so a higher max temp. could easily be the reason stated for a change, when price really is the major reason. When you are paying 25% more for a product, you start looking for reasons to justify a change or stay where you are.

"Overall, I am leaning to wanna's viewpoint."

Excuse me, which viewpoint? That AMD products suck
no matter what? Having a similar product but with better parameters
makes the market bigger for it, no matter what, no
matter how you try to argue how hot or not it is in cars, or
now easy it might be to reflash the firmware in
your phone. He has no point what-so-ever, only an
intent to bash.
