Going from .25u to .09u is skipping two process generations. That would surely put Intel in a huge competitive position in their communications market, and it also explains why they continue to invest so much in manufacturing capacity. Clearly, they intend to leapfrog the competition and put themselves 1-2 generations ahead of anything else on the market.

There are some remarkable bits of information in that article! It is beginning to look like Intel is pulling away from the rest of the world in process technology in a manner that I haven't seen in my 20 years in the business. All that R&D is coming to fruition. Monster 300mm fabs, 90nm process... Logic, Analog, Flash and Dram integrated onto a single process! All Intel needs is customers....

Of course, this still won't convince the clueless 'Droids who still think that Intel will have over-capacity concerns.

They still believe AMD has "World Class Yields". Did you see where Jerry again claimed AMD has the "best yields in the world"?

Intel is building a $5 million dollar mansion in a trailer park -- the clueless bees just love the ROI.
