You know my position: Washington is a wonderful place, don't go. You, like me, are a born and bred Easterner. I realize that we are not utterly congruent in sensibility, but I think you may overestimate your tolerance for the Southwest. If you want warmth, consider Florida or the Gulf Coast states. Avoid southern California. Woody Allen is right........
