Larry, to be exact, the S&P500 sports a PE of 43.22. I think the historical average is around 20, which means we're a long way from capitulation. Argh!

Are these accounting discrepancies any different than all the other millions of ones filed every year by US citizens.?After all,Governor McGreedy stated that many of the corporations doing biz in NJ paid only $200 in state income tax.Accounting is not an exact science........besides a stock is only worth the price another person is willing to pay.

The s&p p/e is a bogus statistic to use. You have many stocks which haven't ever made a penny in gaap earnings and it skews the hell out of the figure.
