Yes indeed... you put it very well...

if they can't beat you with teamwork they can always pull out that moment of outrageous individual brilliance.

This reminded me of Amarildo, remember him ? I saw him scored the equalizer against Czechoslovakia in the 62 final in Santiago. From the side, he managed to put the ball past everyone in sight including Schrojf the goalie, whom they blamed since, like Seaman, was expecting the cross... Brazil won that final 3 x 1 (after being one down --2 minutes later, Amarildo scored this goal)

You are probably right about Marcos... and I saw that fake by Owens, I just simply did not think was a big fake... perhaps looking at from the goalies view, that would look different.

A goalie's 50/50 dillema. Does Friedel come off the line and punch out the cross GER scored on? Or stay back and play the shot (and rely on a perfect shot to score).

Still, a fabulous goal by BRA, but I'd like to play the 100 rule (one in a 100 goes in -g/ng-)

BTW, I forget to mention the courage it took SI to put soccer on the cover over Tiger, Lakers championship and Red Wings Cup. Hehe, I can't wait to read the letters....-ggggg-

treating the Ronaldinho goal as a fluke

LOL. That's just plain silly. We're talking about Ronaldinho, not some First Division donkey: very little he does with the ball is a fluke.

As for the Marcos's "effort" on the Owen goal, let's be blunt here, Brasil is not exactly known for producing grade-A keepers. That's why they have to keep scoring goals. -g-
